GDG Nagpur has been volunteer-run since 2019. No tickets, no paywall, no upsell at the end of the talk. What follows is how the chapter got here, what it stands for, and who actually does the work.

The chapter's history, as honestly as we can tell it.
The chapter started as a weekend study group at a college in Ramdaspeth. No sponsors, no stage, one projector that only worked at the second attempt.
Run entirely online because it had to be. 180 people showed up, and the hallway track ran on Discord until two in the morning.
The first in-person event after the gap. Study jams restarted, and the chapter learned that people would travel across the city on a Saturday if the session was worth it.
An International Women's Day event that turned into a standing commitment: every programme since has been planned with who is not yet in the room in mind.
The first edition asked teams to build something for Nagpur itself, not a generic demo. Four of those prototypes are still maintained by their teams.
Fifty events in, the chapter has never charged for a ticket. The mentor platform and the opportunity board are the next things to get right.
Plenty of people here can build. What is harder to come by locally is the room, the mentor and the first opportunity. The chapter exists to supply those three things and then get out of the way.
Every session is built around something you actually run, deploy or break. If a topic cannot survive a hands-on hour, it becomes a talk, not a workshop.
Who is missing from the room is a question we ask before the invite goes out, not after. Women Techmakers is part of the chapter, not a once-a-year event.
Members propose sessions, mentor each other and post the opportunities. The organizers keep the lights on; the programme belongs to the people who turn up.
A curated slice of the calendar. The full directory lives on the events page.

A six-week Compose cohort compressed into one Saturday, ending with every participant publishing a working app to an internal test track.
An unscripted evening with three founders on what they got wrong shipping their first product, and what building in public actually costs.
One codebase, two platforms, five hours. Everyone left with the same app running on an Android phone and an iPad.
Two tracks, a hardware corner nobody expected to be this busy, and the first year the chapter had to close registrations early.
Four consecutive Saturdays working through the Cloud skill badges together, ending with 60 participants certified.
A handful of volunteers with day jobs. If you want to help run this, there is always room.

We need help with events, content and design.
All three are free and open. Most people start on WhatsApp for the announcements and end up living in Discord.
